Hello!
Last week's Celebration
of Books was a huge success! I giant thank you to the help and support from our
families. We spent a lot of time reading on October 31st, dressed as book
characters. We went and read to Kindergartners in Mrs. Hotchkiss' class and to
third grade buddies in Miss McClelland's class.
We had a bunch of fun
costumes, also. As soon as I figure out how to post pictures to the blog, I'll
post a few that I took that day.
Next week are our
Parent Teacher Conferences. I can't wait to see you and share specific things
your child has been working on in class.
Also next week on
November 13th, will be a celebration for all students who have not received an
office referral during the first trimester. A note from the office will be
coming home soon with more information.
Next week's specials
are:
Monday: Music
Tuesday: PE
Wednesday: Media
Thursday: Art
Friday: NO SCHOOL
What have we been up to in class this week?

Math
In Math we are did multiplication
facts 5s 10s 3s 9s 4s. We also are studying fact family. We’ve also done a
little bit of division. We have 2 sheets of paper we have to do. We have to
color it and do the multiplication problems.
Writing
We are learning informational
writing. We had to pick a topic that we know a lot about. We got to write a
quick draft. Today we got to write anything we want. Last week we took a test
about sharks. Then on Tuesday Miss. Baxter told us that we are going to publish
an information piece of writing. We don’t have to do all the fancy parts of the
publishing process.
Reading
In reading we are working on summarizing
stories. If we read to partner we don’t need to write a summary. If we read to
self we do have a summary. We at least read about 30-60 minutes every day if we
have a problem it takes a lot of our reading time. We have reading groups too.
We have to write summary’s there too for our group work
Word
Work
We started to use a book that helps
our writing and reading. The color books mean the type of skills you need to
work on. We have to cut glue and do the back.
